Hamburger SV moves on the lawn of Standard Liege in the second leg of the Europa League quarter-final. Victorious 2-1 in the first leg, the Germans know that the task will not be easy against the double Belgium champion in the title.
For the first time in many years, the Standard Liege has the opportunity to shine on the European stage by qualifying for the semi-finals of a European competition.
Beaten 2 goals to 1 in the first leg, the Belgians were forced to win and therefore they want to score to qualify. A mission is not impossible for Liege as they have always scored at least one goal this season when they moved home in the European Cup. However, their defense has not always been impeccable since cashed 2 goals against Salzburg and 3 against Arsenal at home.
By losing its last regular season game at home, Standard Liege said goodbye to his title, not reaching the Play-Off II of the Jupiler League, but still has a chance to play in Europe next year. In the European Cup this season, the Standard has lost only once at home during the 1st day of the Champions League against Arsenal. Since then, the Belgian chained with 3 wins and 1 draw. A 1-0 win by 2 goals or deviation would be sufficient on Thursday.
