NHL Betting- The Detroit Red Wings were not the best team in the NHL this season, in fact, they were no where near the Western Conferences leading point-getter.
What they were, was the hottest team entering the 2010 Stanley Cup Playoffs. A fact that you wouldn’t dispute as you watched them calmly dominate Game 7 of their first round series against the Phoenix Coyotes, to send an upstart Phoenix team golfing, and make the rest of the Western Conference advancing teams collectively gulp.
now although Detroit was a hot team, they weren’t the single hottest, they shared their blazing tail into the post season with their second round opponents, the San Jose Sharks. The Sharke were the Western Conferences leading point-getter. And after another early first round scare at the hands of the pesky Colorado Avalanche, they look almost like they’re supposed to.
Tonight, the Sharks host the Wings as -141 favorites heading into game one, where their fans will collectively thanks them for keeping them from being another playoff embarrassment. But with the overcoming of adversity lies another burden – expectation.
There are differences in hoping to be good and expecting to be good. San Jose just jumped that hurdle, from hoping to expected. And there is only one team that has more experience in that burden than anybody: the Detroit Red Wings (+130).
The Wings aren’t just good, they are expected to be – just like many other teams – the difference is that Detroit, time and time again, delivers on that expectation.
Tonight, they’ll welcome the Sharks to the magical land of gettin’ er’ done.
