One of the Seattle Mariners’ prized offseason acquisitions is set to take the mound for the first time tonight.
Starting pitcher Cliff Lee will make his 2010 debut and the M’s are -150 home faves against the Texas Rangers (+130) while the Total is at 7.
Lee has been out of the lineup since March 15, when he suffered a strained abdomen and is rearing to go.
“I’m anxious. I can’t speed up the clock,” Lee told the Associated Press.
“[Today], it’s just go out there and have fun. Let it all hang out.”
In Lee’s last 20 starts, his team has gone 16-4 straight up and he is 5-3 SU in his last eight games against the Texas Rangers but as the AP points out, his ERA in that time is 7.09.
In the Seattle Mariners’ last 20 overall games against the Texas Rangers, there have been 6 Overs and 14 Unders.
The M’s have gone 11-11 without Lee and the former Philadelphia Phillies pitcher thinks his new team can do better.
“I mean, we’ve got to do a better job of minimizing the streaks of losing,” Lee told the Seattle Times.
“Obviously, you cut into those and it’s going to make you that much better. But we definitely did a good job of riding that winning streak [last week].”
The Mariners are +175 to take the AL West Division.
