Soccer: Manchester City Picked Out For the Champions League

Manchester City qualified for the Soccer Champions League for the first time, beating Tottenham 1-0 Tuesday to deny the London club next season in European competition for elite clubs.

The victory came thanks to a 30th minute own goal by Peter Crouch, who scored the only goal at Eastlands in May last year that took the Spurs in the Champions League this season at the expense of Manchester City.

A hardening of England four Champions League places is an important goal for the owners of the city of Abu Dhabi when they bought the club in 2008.

We used to give performances and results, said goalkeeper Joe Hart. Whatever the money spent by the club, we are a team and show that.

If you saw the Champions League this season, the Spurs have done brilliantly (reaching the quarter-finals) and it is a shame for them that can not be there again as it brought something. But travel to Real Madrid AC Milan and Inter Milan, what do you want?

An investment of over 1 billion players by Sheikh Mansour has also put the city in a battle to end his title drought of 35 years.

Stoke is next to the FA Cup on Saturday, and striker Carlos Tevez the city is to be fit for the match at Wembley Stadium after making a last-minute substitute appearance has recovered from a thigh injury.

We now have a trophy and this Saturday, said Hart. We have this evening and now we have to give these fans a trophy.

Own goal from Crouch came to the same end where he scored a year ago. City winger James Milner has led to Adam Johnson pass short and low center of the penalty area in a crowd from where crouch rose a foot and turned the ball into his own net.

The City intended to ensure playing in the European Cup for the first time since 1968-1924 years before the tournament has been changed in the Champions League.

If the city finished fourth in the Premier League, played a playoff team in August to reach the group stage.

After two subsequent rounds, the city is two points behind Arsenal and five adrift of Chelsea. Manchester United needs just one point to win the title.

This does not mean that we are in the Champions League. Would have to qualify, why not Arsenal? Said the captain of the Town of Vincent Company. We believe they can lose points and we believe we can get six points.
