Atlanta Braves vs Milwaukee Brewers Live MLB Betting Odds @Sportsbook: The Atlanta Braves are current leaders of the National League East and they added Blue Jay shortstop Alex Gonzalez.
The Braves sent shortstop Yunel Escobar and pitcher Jo-Jo Reyes for Gonzalez and two minor-leaguers; in Gonzalez, Atlanta gets a shortstop that is batting .259 with 17 homers and 50 RBIs.
“He’s an outstanding defensive shortstop and he’s having a very good offensive season,” Braves GM Frank Wren told the AP.
“We think he can improve our run production. He immediately leads our team in home runs.”
Braves skip Bobby Cox echoed the sentiments of his general manager regarding the team’s latest acquisition.
“I think [Escobar and Gonzalez are] very similar,” Cox told MLB.com.
“Alex isn’t as flashy, but he’s extremely talented.”
While the Braves currently have a four-game lead over the New York Mets for the division lead, they have some key players on the disabled list, including rookie OF Jason Heyward — there are reports that Heyward could return from a thumb injury on Thursday however.
The Braves are the odds-on favorites to win the NL East, currently listed at -175 and begin the second half of their schedule with the first of a four-game home set against the Milwaukee Brewers tonight.
Atlanta is a -175 home fave, Milwaukee is a +147 road ‘dog with the Total set at 8.5.
In the Braves’ last 13 home games against the Brewers, there have been 2 Overs and 11 Unders.
