Detroit Tigers met New York Yankees on Thursday, 5th May, 1:00PM at Comerica Park in Detroit. Tigers performed really well in MLB and beat Yankees for the third straight time. Detroit won against Yankees with the score 6-3.

In the first round the scores were 0-1, second 0-0, in the third 0-0 , in the fourth 2-0 ,fifth 0-0 ,sixth 0-1 ,seventh 0-3,eighth 0-1 and Ninth 1-X ,and the final score by the two teams is 6-3.

Yankees led 2-1 in the sixth and Ramon hit hard single to right. Ramon  shifts to second on sacrifice and Boesch’s two-out single up the middle tied the game.

Boesch’s solo homer in the eighth made it 6-2. It was Detroit’s fourth and final hit. Boesch had a bizarre 2010, hitting .342 with 12 homers before All-Star break, then hitting .163 after it. He’s off to another nice start this season, hitting .318.

The next game for Detroit Tigers is on 6th May 2011 with Toronto at 7:07pm ET. And the next game for New York Yankees with Texas on 6th May 2011 at 8:05pm ET.

MLB Betting: BoSox placed Josh Beckett On DL

It looks like Boston Red Sox skipper Terry Francona was stretching the truth when he said that starting pitcher Josh Beckett wasn’t suffering from a major injury last week.

The Red Sox have placed Josh Beckett on the 15-day disabled list with a lower back strain and he could be out of the lineup until June 3.

Beckett missed a scheduled start last week against the Detroit Tigers and at the time, Francona said that his pitcher was merely suffering from back spasms.

Tim Wakefield will take Beckett’s spot in the rotation and will take the mound when the BoSox play Game 3 of their upcoming interleague series against the Philadelphia Phillies on Sunday.

“I think we all, as we talked through it, we realized that that was certainly the safest thing to do,” Francona told MLB.com.

“You don’t have a crystal ball, and since you don’t, if you’re going to make a mistake, or you’re going to err, you better err on the side of caution.”

Back to the present, the Red Sox will host the Minnesota Twins tonight with Boston listed as a -135 home fave and Minnesota listed as a +115 road ‘dog — the Total is set at 8.5.

In the Boston Red Sox’s last nine home games against the Twins, they are 8-1 straight up and are currently on a six-game home winning streak vs. the Twinkies.

Jon Lester takes the mound and in his last 20 home starts Boston has gone 14-6 SU.

MLB Preview: Tampa Bay Rays vs New York Yankees Gunning for a Victory

Tampa Bay Rays and the New York Yankees on Wednesday both these teams will meet each other for a gunning victory at Yankee Stadium.

Tampa Bay can bolster its early lead on the Yankees and extend its latest winning streak to five on Wednesday night, but to do so the Rays will need to end a string of six straight losses in the Bronx.

New York (25-14) has begun defense of its World Series title in strong fashion only to be overshadowed by the Rays, who are the only team in the majors with a better record.

Tampa Bay (28-11) dropped two of three to the Yankees at home from April 9-11, but manager Joe Maddon’s team - already with a three-game lead - has a chance to make a statement in New York before beginning interleague play.

“It’s going to be fun going up there, as it should be,” said Maddon, whose team has gone 15-4 on the road in 2010 but was outscored 31-12 while losing its last six in the Bronx last season.

“You want to be on the top. You want to play the best teams. You want to play in the best division. I think it’s great,” Maddon added. “Our guys will be ready for it. Our game’s a pretty good game right now. We haven’t hit to our potential yet, but we’ve been doing everything else.”

Brilliant pitching has been the foundation of the majors’ best start since Boston was 28-11 in 2002. David Price and four relievers held Cleveland to six hits in a 6-2 win Tuesday, lowering Tampa Bay’s team ERA to 2.69 - the best in the AL.

Wade Davis (3-3, 3.38 ERA) has played a role, although the rookie will be trying to avoid a third straight loss. He has held Oakland and Seattle to three runs each in his last two starts, but has gotten minimal run support in that stretch.

Davis has yet to pitch at Yankee Stadium, but New York has already beaten him twice in St. Petersburg, with Davis posting a 5.73 ERA in the two outings.

“I just want us to play the same kind of game we’ve been playing to this point,” Maddon said. “I don’t like to say: `We’re playing the Yankees, you’ve got to play a better game.’”

The Rays, however, have had major problems figuring out the Yankees’ scheduled starter.

A.J. Burnett has won four straight starts against Tampa Bay and is 6-0 with a 1.76 ERA in his last seven. He held the Rays to two runs in seven innings of a 7-3 win April 11.

Burnett (4-1, 3.31) did not factor in the decision Friday night against Minnesota, although he worked 6 2-3 innings and allowed three runs - two earned - in an 8-4 win.

The banged-up Yankees will try to regroup quickly after squandering a 5-0 lead in Tuesday’s 7-6 home loss to Boston, with Mariano Rivera allowing a go-ahead hit for the second straight outing. New York fell to 13-4 at Yankee Stadium and will now try to avoid its first back-to-back losses there.

The team remained without Nick Swisher (biceps) and Jorge Posada (foot) on Tuesday, and Curtis Granderson and Nick Johnson are on the disabled list.

The Yankees still enter this series leading the majors in runs (225) and on-base percentage (.365). Alex Rodriguez has led the way lately, going 8 for 20 (.400) with two homers and nine RBIs in five games on this homestand.

Rodriguez is 3 for 6 (.500) with a homer against Davis.

MLB: Kansas City vs Cleveland Live

Cleveland (15-22) concluded a 4-4 road trip with a 6-2 loss at Tampa Bay on Tuesday. That trip started with the Indians taking two of three from Kansas City last week.

The Indians, however, had both shortstop Asdrubal Cabrera and center fielder Grady Sizemore in that series against the Royals (15-25). They might not have either near the top of their order Wednesday.

Cabrera will undergo surgery after suffering a broken forearm Monday. Jason Donald went 2 for 3 in his major league debut in place of Cabrera on Tuesday.

“If he can do that every day, we’re in heaven,” manager Manny Acta told the Indians’ official website.

Sizemore could miss a third straight game because of a bruised left knee.

“It’s still bothering me,” said Sizemore, who’s batting .221. “I’m not even testing it out yet. Right now, I’m just taking it slow.”

The Indians could rely on Russell Branyan, who’s 1 for 15 in his last five games after going 5 for 9 with three homers against the Royals last week.

Branyan, who opened the season on the disabled with a herniated disc, is 2 or 3 with a double against Kansas City’s scheduled starter Gil Meche (0-4, 7.17 ERA).

Meche is 0-5 with a 7.58 ERA in nine starts since beating the Chicago White Sox on Aug. 18. However, the right-hander is coming off one of his better outings after allowing one run in six innings of a 6-1 win over the White Sox on Friday.

“I feel real comfortable out there,” said Meche, who’s allowed four runs in 14 innings over his last two starts. “The confidence is carrying over and I’m feeling good.”

Meche is 5-9 with a 4.72 ERA in 22 starts against Cleveland, which counters with Justin Masterson (0-4, 5.92).

The right-hander, who’s 0-10 with a 5.38 ERA in 14 starts since beating the Los Angeles Angels on Aug. 20, allowed six runs and five walks in 5 1-3 innings of an 8-1 loss at Baltimore on Friday.

“You think about anything that could take place - it’s probably taken place,” Masterson told the Indians’ official website. “It’s two or three pitches a game, but it seems like the two or three times I do hang them, it really does hurt me, which is unfortunate.”

Masterson, however, has had some success against the Royals, going 1-1 with a 2.95 ERA in three starts.

Alberto Callaspo had two hits for Kansas City in a 4-3, 10-inning loss at Baltimore on Tuesday. The Royals are 3-2 since Ned Yost replaced fired manager Trey Hillman after their 6-4 win over the Indians on Thursday.

Callaspo was 5 for 12 with two doubles, a homer and three RBIs against Cleveland last week.

Philadelphia (24-14) opens this two-game set after splitting a pair of games with Pittsburgh. Though Utley missed his first game of the year, the Phillies beat the Pirates 12-2 on Monday night. The following evening, though, Philadelphia appeared to miss the four-time All-Star as it lost 2-1.

It was the first defeat in five games for the Phillies, who have been replacing Utley by moving Placido Polanco(notes) from third base to second and putting Jimmy Rollins(notes) in the No. 3 spot in lineup.

Rollins went 0 for 4 on Tuesday after collecting two hits the previous day, his first game after missing 29 due to a right calf strain. Rollins is hitting .198 in 24 home games against Chicago (18-22).

Phillies starter Jamie Moyer(notes) (5-2, 4.57 ERA), who began his career with the Cubs, is 3-1 with a 4.58 ERA in seven starts against them. Moyer, set to start Wednesday, has won three straight outings, though he wasn’t sharp in his last game.

The 47-year-old left-hander surrendered five runs in 6 1-3 innings of a 9-5 victory over Milwaukee. He gave up three home runs, increasing his career total to 501. Only Hall of Famer Robin Roberts (505) has given up more.

Three Hall of Famers follow Moyer on that list: Fergie Jenkins (484), Phil Niekro (482) and Don Sutton (472). Moyer’s .571 winning percentage is better than all of them.

“He keeps you in the game,” manager Charlie Manuel said. “Doesn’t matter what the score is. It seems like when we get in a close game, he’ll keep you in a close game.”

Chicago will counter with Tom Gorzelanny(notes) (1-4, 3.60), who is 0-1 with a 6.55 ERA in his last two outings. The left-hander gave up a season-high five runs and nine hits in five innings of a 10-6 loss to Pittsburgh on Friday.

In his only start against the Phillies, Gorzelanny yielded five runs and nine hits in five innings for Pittsburgh in an 11-8 loss Aug. 17, 2007.

The Cubs got a strong start from Carlos Silva(notes) in a 6-2 win over Colorado on Tuesday night. It was Chicago’s third straight win, and its two-game sweep of the Rockies was its fourth series victory.

Rookie shortstop Starlin Castro(notes) continues to be a bright spot for the Cubs. He drove in two runs Tuesday for his first RBIs since his May 7 major league debut, when he had six.

Castro is batting .350 in 11 games since being called up from Double-A Tennessee.

Veteran first baseman Derrek Lee(notes), meanwhile, continues to struggle, going 1 for 10 with five strikeouts over his last two games to drop his average to .229. Lee is hitting .125 (3 for 24) in his last seven games versus the Phillies.

Philadelphia went 5-1 against Chicago last season.
