NBA Playoff Picks 2010 NBA Odds and Predictions

Everything seems to be back to normal in La-La Land, at least for the time being.

While many were beginning to jump off the Los Angeles Lakers’ bandwagon prior to Tuesday’s Game 5, Kobe Bryant didn’t seem concerned about blowing a 2-0 series lead to the Oklahoma City Thunder.

“Who said our backs are against the wall?” Bryant asked when questioned by the Los Angeles Times before Game 5.

“It’s a 2-2 series. What the hell is going on around here?”

Although the momentum seemed to be swinging in the Thunder’s direction, the Lakers showed the new kids on the playoff block who was in charge.

While Kobe did have a solid game, he had modest point totals, going 4 of 9 from the field for 13 points but his teammates were there to contribute as well.

Here is the full list of Kentucky Derby 2010 contenders. This time Yum! Brands are sponsoring the 136th Kentucky Derby (G1). A full field of twenty, 3 years old fillies runs 1 1/4 miles at Churchill Downs for the $2 millions Prize money. This year 22 horses went into entry box on Wednesday 28th April 2010, but 2 horses excluded by graded stakes earnings, Setsuko and Pleasant Prince. Another two horses thought to go in, Interactif and Endorsement, were not entered. Interactif will contest the American Turf (G3) instead of stay on turf on Friday. Endorsement suffered a lateral condylar fracture in his right front ankle during a workout. He will have surgery on Thursday and is expected to be out 3-4 months.

John Asher hosted the proceedings at the Secretariat Lounge in the clubhouse at noon, with racing Secretary Ben Huffman drawing the entry sheets and assistant secretary Dan Bourque drawing the numbers. Asher pointed out that Huffman shuffled the entry sheets, a reference to recent years when this step was forgotten and the names came out in alphabetical order. The "draft draw" was abolished this year and the draw was instead conducted in the traditional double blind method.

Lookin at Lucky, an unlucky third in a troubled trip in the Santa Anita Derby, will break from the rail under jockey Garrett Gomez for trainer Bob Baffert as the 3-1 favorite on the morning line announced by handicapper Mike Battaglia, and will race with blinkers off. Santa Anita Derby winner Sidney's Candy is the 5-1 second choice, but he drew the far outside post 20 for trainer John Sadler and jockey Joe Talamo. Three horses are tied at 10-1 third choice, Ice Box in post 2, filly Devil May Care in post 11 and adds blinkers, and Awesome Act in post 16.

The Kentucky Derby will be televised on NBC from 4-7:00pm EDT but you can watch most of the Derby card on ESPN from 1-5:00pm. Both networks will broadcast in HD this year. Free past performances for the Kentucky Derby and Kentucky Oaks are available from Daily Racing Form. Kentucky Oaks Horse Race

Event:
Kentucky Oaks
Founded: 1875
Venue: Churchill Downs
Location: Louisville, Kentucky
Track Info: 1 1/8 mile
Notable Winners: Summerly, Lite Light, Flute

Held in Louisville, Kentucky, this year's Kentucky Oaks will take place on April 30, just a day before the Kentucky Derby, at Churchill Downs is the perfect prelude to the Run for the Roses. The Kentucky Oaks is a Grade I Purebred horse race for three-year-old fillies. The race presently covers 1 1/8 miles (1811 metres); carry 121 pounds (55 kg).

On May 19, 1875 the first race conducted by the Louisville Jockey Club and the founder of the race is Meriwether Lewis Clark, Jr. along with the Kentucky Derby. The Kentucky Oaks is closely associated with the Kentucky Derby, which is held the weekend following the Oaks every year and both races hosted at the United States' oldest continuously operating horse track. The winner of the Kentucky Oaks receives $500,000 and a garland of lilies.

The five spot fit in the wide range trainer Jerry Hollendorfer and jockey Rafael Bejarano considered favorable for the three-time Grade 1 winner.

Louisvillians once referred to the Oaks as "our Derby," implying that the Derby itself had become the domain of celebrities and out-of-town visitors. But now that perception has changed as the Oaks has become nearly as popular as the Derby. Attendance on "Oaks Day" is usually second only to Derby Day, surpassing attendance at the Preakness Stakes and the Belmont Stakes, as well as the Breeders' Cup. Watch and Experience this great American horse race live.

The Kentucky Oaks has been run at four different distances:
• 1 1/2 miles (2414 metres) — 1875 to 1890
• 1 1/4 miles (2012 metres) — 1891 to 1895
• 1 1/16 miles (1710 metres) — 1896 to 1919 and 1942 to 1981
• 1 1/8 miles (1811 metres) — 1920 to 1941 and 1982 to present

But aside from the excitement of the horse race, crowds attending the historic event can assemble on the race track's infield and enjoy a host of musical performances, boardwalk games and sample some local fare.
