Seattle Mariners (10-11) at Kansas City Royals (8-12) Starts

MLB Betting: American League Match between Seattle Mariners and Kansas City Royals Starts at 2.10pm ET on Wednesday April 28, 2010.

The Seattle Mariners are 2-8 on the road this season and are heavy favorites to beat the Kansas City Royals who are 3-6 at home. Kansas City went 5-4 against Seattle last season. The Royals have won 11 of the last 15 matchups at Kauffman Stadium.

While the Seattle Mariners’ prized off-season acquisition is scheduled to make his season debut when the team returns home, they’d like to get a solid effort from Ryan Rowland-Smith to cap off their road trip.

Rowland-Smith takes the mound against the Kansas City Royals on Wednesday, when the Mariners try to win their first road series this season.

Acquired from Philadelphia in a three-team deal in the off-season, Cliff Lee was expected to immediately pair with right-hander Felix Hernandez as one of the majors’ most feared pitching combinations. Lee, though, has yet to make his Mariners debut after suffering a lower abdominal strain in spring training.

The left-hander threw a 50-pitch bullpen session Tuesday and is expected to start Friday against Texas.

But before the Mariners (10-11) open their nine-game homestand with the 2008 AL Cy Young Award winner of the mound, Rowland-Smith (0-1, 4.63 ERA) will try to help the team close out its six-game trip with its first series win on the road since Sept. 12-14.

Seattle snapped a four-game slide and a five-game skid on the road with Tuesday’s 3-2 victory. The Mariners’ three-run eighth, when they batted around, matched their run total from the past two games.

That kind of run support could benefit Rowland-Smith, who allowed a season-high five runs and a career-high three homers in Friday’s 7-6 loss at the Chicago White Sox.

“I thought Rowland-Smith early, giving up the three runs in the first three innings, it was pitching with emotions,” manager Don Wakamatsu told the Mariners’ official website.

Rowland-Smith is 0-1 with a 4.00 ERA in three starts versus Kansas City. He’ll face a Royals team that went 1 for 14 with runners in scoring position Tuesday.

“Zack (Greinke) deserved much better,” said manager Trey Hillman of the reigning AL Cy Young Award winner. “He deserved better offensive support.”

Coming off another “embarrassing” outing, Gil Meche (0-2, 11.37) could use a better effort in the series finale.

The veteran right-hander, who went 55-44 with a 4.65 ERA for Seattle from 1999-2006, lasted just 3 1/3 innings in Friday’s 8-3 loss to Minnesota. Meche walked a season-high five and allowed four runs and four hits. It was the second time in three starts that he has not made it out of the fourth inning.

“It’s embarrassing to pitch that way when I know what I’m capable of,” said Meche, who is 2-2 with a 5.77 ERA in six starts versus Seattle. “I’m getting tired about talking about the same thing over and over. You’ve got to turn the page. You’ve got to figure it out and do your job. I’m not doing my job.”

Neither is the Royals’ bullpen, which gave up three more runs Tuesday and has an AL-worst 6.61 ERA.

Ichiro Suzuki, who is 9 for 14 with a homer lifetime against Meche, goes for his eighth consecutive multihit game at Kauffman Stadium, which would set a record for an opposing player.

David DeJesus went 2 for 5 on Tuesday and is batting .409 during the Royals’ homestand that ends Wednesday.

Kansas City has won 12 of 17 at home versus Seattle.

MLB Betting: San Diego Padres (12-8) at Florida Marlins (11-10) Preview

MLB Betting San Diego Padres (12-8) at Florida Marlins (11-10) Preview: Match Between San Diego Padres and Florida Marlins starts at 12.10pm ET on Wed Apr 28, 2010.

A six-game road trip could have been a obstacle for the surprising San Diego Padres. Instead, they’re in position to finish the jaunt above .500.

Kevin Correia might give them an excellent chance to reaching that.

Correia will take the mound Wednesday afternoon looking to help the Padres cap the trip with a second straight victory over the struggling Florida Marlins.

San Diego (12-8) opened the season by losing four of six on the road, but a six-game winning streak at home appeared to give the club momentum. The Padres carried their home success over to start of this trip, winning the first two games before dropping the next two including a 10-1 loss Monday in the opener of this series.

After responding by beating the Marlins 4-1 on Tuesday, they have a chance to finish 4-2 on the trip and improve to .500 away from San Diego. Coming off two straight losing seasons, the Padres are tied with San Francisco for the NL West lead.

“Go out there, have good pitching, play great defense and execute on offense - that’s our style of game,” second baseman David Eckstein(notes) told the team’s official website. “That’s who we are.”

Correia (3-1, 3.13 ERA), who led the Padres with 12 wins in 2009, is emerging as the club’s most reliable starter.

He’s posted a 2.12 ERA while winning a career high-tying three consecutive starts, including Friday’s 10-4 win at Cincinnati. The right-hander carried a no-hitter into the sixth inning, where he eventually allowed two runs and three hits before exiting with two outs.

Correia has also benefited from outstanding run support, as the lineup has provided him 26 runs during his winning streak.

“I’m never going to complain. I’d go five innings every time if we’re going to win and score like that,” Correia told the team’s official website.

Correia is 1-2 with a 6.89 ERA in 11 appearances - four starts - against the Marlins. However, he won his last start at Florida, allowing four runs in 6 2-3 innings of a 9-5 win Aug. 28.

Adrian Gonzalez(notes) had two hits and an RBI Tuesday, and is batting .348 with four homers and nine RBIs in his last six games. The All-Star first baseman, frequently the subject of trade rumors, leads San Diego with six homers and 15 RBIs.

The Padres are also excelling on the bases, where their 23 steals are tied with Washington for most in the majors.

The Marlins have dropped three of four and are in danger of losing their first home series of the season.

They’ll give the ball to Nate Robertson(notes) (2-1, 3.98) on short rest after he surrendered five runs and five hits with four walks in four innings of Saturday’s 8-1 loss at Colorado. The left-hander was pulled after 84 pitches as the team wanted to preserve him for Wednesday.

“That’s one of the reasons we didn’t run him out there for the fifth,” manager Fredi Gonzalez told the team’s official website.

Robertson won his only previous start against the Padres on June 21, 2008, allowing five runs in six innings of a 7-5 victory for Detroit.

Chicago White Sox vs Cleveland Indians Baseball Live Odds

Chicago White Sox vs Cleveland Indians Odds – Baseball Betting: The MLB match between Chicago White Sox and Cleveland Indians will kick off on April 16, 2010 at 7:05 PM ET. This match will takes place at Progressive Field, Cleveland, Ohio.

Cleveland took two of three games from the Chicago White Sox to open the season. However, the Indians didn't fare well against Mark Buehrle in that series.

Baseball Betting

The left-hander looks for another strong outing as the visiting White Sox open a weekend set with the Indians on Friday night.

A four-time All-Star, Buehrle (2-0, 2.40 ERA) allowed three hits in seven innings of a 6-0 win over Cleveland at U.S. Cellular Field on April 5. The left-hander also made a spectacular play when he stuck his leg out and knocked Lou Marson's one-hopper into foul territory. Then he used his glove to shovel the ball between his legs to first baseman Paul Konerko to retire the runner.

Chicago White Sox vs Cleveland Indians Predictions @ Baseball Betting

MLB Baseball Betting: Cincinnati Vs Pittsburgh Preview

MLB Baseball Betting: Cincinnati Vs Pittsburgh Preview: After batting .322 with 25 home runs and 84 RBIs in 131 games last season, Votto is hitting .263 with a homer and two RBIs through the first 10 games of 2010. He averaged a strikeout every 4.4 at-bats in 2009, but is averaging one every 2.9 at-bats this year.

Although it’s been a struggle early for Votto, he has had no such trouble in Pittsburgh.

The Reds first baseman hit .472 (17 for 36) with seven doubles, eight RBIs and had a .548 on-base percentage in nine games at PNC Park in 2009. Cincinnati (5-5) won six of those games and went 13-5 against Pittsburgh last season.

While Votto has battered most Pirates pitchers, he’s had his most success against Duke, going 10 for 16 with five doubles lifetime. Consequently, Duke went 1-4 with a 4.65 ERA in five starts against the Reds in 2009.

Duke (2-0, 3.00 ERA) has gotten off to an encouraging start to this season, though, winning his first two outings. Pittsburgh (4-5), which lost to San Francisco 6-0 on Wednesday, is 2-5 when Duke isn’t on the mound.

Baseball Lines- Dodgers’ Ace To Miss Next Start-Baseball Betting

Billingsley left his last start against Atlanta on Friday after straining his hamstring on a single. He threw on the side before Monday's series opener against the Giants and still felt the tightness so the Dodgers decided to skip his next start baseball betting game.

All-Star pitcher Chad Billingsley will miss his scheduled start against the San Francisco Giants on Wednesday with a strained left hamstring.

Billingsley was originally scheduled to pitch tonight against the San Francisco Giants and Dodgers skip Joe Torre says that Jeff Weaver will be his replacement.

"The last few pitches I tried to go game-speed and had to shut 'er down," Billingsley said, adding that it felt like a grabbing pain.

Sportsbook SPORTSBETTING.com currently has the betting odds For showing the Dodgers baseball lines .

The Dodgers have not decided who will start in Billingsley's place, but the first option is to have Jeff Weaver start and a cast of relievers back him up, since the Dodgers have an off day on Thursday. Billingsley's next turn would be on Monday, and that start remains a possibility. Billingsley said he doesn't feel he needs to go on the disabled list.

"I don't view it as a setback," Billingsley said. "Being only two days and being able to throw almost 100 percent, I'm happy with that."

"Stan feels that he has made significant progress but not far enough along to pitch him on Wednesday," Torre said.

The Dodgers haven't decided on a starter for Wednesday's baseball lines game against Tim Lincecum. Jeff Weaver, who threw three perfect innings of relief on Sunday, and James McDonald are options to come out of the bullpen and start in Billingsley's place. With a day off Thursday and 13 pitchers on the roster, Torre said the team might not need to add another pitcher.

"We don't have a plan yet," Torre said. "Obviously we are going to need one. We don't have one, but we know we have sort of a safety plan knowing we could get it done with the pitchers that we have here."

Billingsley is the Dodgers top pitcher, with an 11-6 record and 3.73 ERA. He has 143 strikeouts in 149 2/3 innings. The Dodgers can ill afford to lose Billingsley for any length of time because of the way they have struggled of late.
Los Angeles entered this crucial series against the second-place Giants having lost 11 of 17 games. The Dodgers still led San Francisco and Colorado by 5½ games in the NL West.

Manager Joe Torre says he hopes Billingsley can return to the mound next Monday and does not need to go on the disabled list. The Dodgers haven't decided on a starter for Wednesday's game against Tim Lincecum. Jeff Weaver is an option after throwing three perfect innings of relief on Sunday.

Weaver is 4-3 SU in his last seven road baseball betting games against the Giants.

Baseball Betting-Philly Acquires 2008 Cy Young Winner

The Philadelphia Phillies couldn’t agree to a deal with the Toronto Blue Jays for Roy Halladay so they moved on.

Philly acquired Cliff Lee–last year’s Cy Young winner–and OF Ben Francisco from the Cleveland Indians in exchange for some minor leaguers.

The Phillies got their Cy Young winner in Baseball Betting.

After making a run at landing Blue Jays ace Roy Halladay before Friday's Trade Deadline, the Phillies instead acquired Indians ace Cliff Lee. The Phillies and Indians announced Wednesday evening that Lee and outfielder Ben Francisco have been traded to the Phillies for prospects Jason Knapp, Carlos Carrasco, Jason Donald and Lou Marson.

The Phillies improved their rotation and added a much-needed right-handed bat for their bench. The Indians get four of the top 10 prospects in Philadelphia's system, according to Baseball Betting America. The Blue Jays? Well, they might have overplayed their hand with less than 48 hours to go before the Deadline.

Lee isn’t exactly a winning pitcher this year however.

In his last 20 Baseball Betting games, Cleveland was only 8-12 SU.

This Week in Baseball-Dodgers keep rolling-Baseball Betting

MLB Week Preview

There has been no better team in MLB Baseball betting circles this season than the Los Angeles Dodgers. Winners of six of their last eight games against the moneyline, the Dodgers have been the most profitable club since the first pitch on opening day. Los Angeles didn’t even miss its stride when Manny Ramirez was suspended for 50 games before the All-Star break.
One team the Dodgers haven’t had much success against over the past number of seasons is the St. Louis Cardinals. L.A. is only 20-41 in its last 61 meetings with St. Louis, and has cashed a mere eight times in its last 24 games at Busch Stadium.

LA Dodgers at St. Louis

Despite having the best right handed hitter in the game in Albert Pujols, the Cardinals (53-48, -1.45 units) have been incredibly anemic against left handed pitching this season. With slugger Matt Holliday on board following a trade over the weekend baseball betting with the Oakland Athletics, St. Louis hosts the league-leading Dodgers (62-36, +19.90 units) in a four-game set beginning on Monday night.

The Cards are banking on Holliday to give the team some protection for Pujols, and to help improve on their .227 batting average against southpaws. St. Louis has been particularly brutal against lefties over the last 10 games, hitting .211 as the team has gone 4-6 against the MLB moneyline.

Barring an immediate reversal, the Redbirds are in tough for at least two of the games in the series. Veteran lefthander Randy Wolf (5-4, 3.45 ERA) takes the ball for Los Angeles in the opener, while southpaw Clayton Kershaw (8-5, 2.96 ERA) toes the rubber on Wednesday night.

Houston at Chicago Cubs

Currently in the mix for top spot in the National League Central, the Cubs (51-45, -3.31 units) head into their four-game series with the surging Astros (50-48, +3.78 units) playing their best baseball of the season for backers.

Chicago had cashed eight of its last 10 games heading into Monday night’s series opener to grab a share of top spot in the division. Not to be outdone, Houston is hot on the Cubbies’ trail with seven moneyline victories over its last 11 outings to sit just one game back.

Both clubs hit the field with key players either banged up or on the disabled list. Lance Berkman (calf) is on the 15-day DL for the Astros, while Derrek Lee (neck) is day-to-day this week for the North Siders. Cubs bettors won’t have the services of All-Star Ted Lilly (shoulder, knee), although Ryan Dempster (toe) is expected to come off the DL to start on Tuesday night. Check out the Baseball Bet Odds at SPORTSBETTING.com.

Colorado at NY Mets

If the Cubs or Astros can’t cash the NL Central, they could get into the postseason by taking the wild card. To do that, they’ll have to keep pace with the Rockies (54-44, +10.12 units), who travel to Citi Field on Monday night for a four-game showdown with the Mets (46-51, -6.31 units).

16-5 over its last 21 games away from home, Colorado is only 5-22 in its last 27 meetings with the Mets in New York. Conditions are ripe for the Rockies to turn the trend around this week, with the Mets dealing with a slew of injuries.

With Carlos Beltran (knee), Jose Reyes (calf), Carlos Delgado (hip), Gary Sheffield (leg), John Maine (shoulder), and J.J. Putz (elbow) all out of the lineup, New York is already looking ahead to next season.

NY Yankees at Tampa Bay

Sharp bettors are eyeing the under for this week’s three-game series between the Yankees (60-38, +0.34 units) and the Rays (54-45, +1.63 units) beginning on Monday night at Tropicana Field.

New York is 2-7-1 O/U in its last 10 games heading into the set, while Tampa Bay has been an even stronger under wager with a 1-8 O/U mark in its last nine contests. The Yanks have foiled oddsmakers’ expectations because of the stellar performance of their pitching staff during the streak: New York’s starters have a 3.10 ERA over their last 10 games (9-1 SU), while the bullpen (2.31 ERA) has been even better.

With the Yankees leading the Rays by 6.5 games in the AL East, this is a prime opportunity for Tampa Bay to make up some ground. The Baseball teams have split the season series at four games apiece, with New York having taken two of three when the teams met at the Trop back in April.
