Seattle Mariners (10-11) at Kansas City Royals (8-12) Starts

MLB Betting: American League Match between Seattle Mariners and Kansas City Royals Starts at 2.10pm ET on Wednesday April 28, 2010.

The Seattle Mariners are 2-8 on the road this season and are heavy favorites to beat the Kansas City Royals who are 3-6 at home. Kansas City went 5-4 against Seattle last season. The Royals have won 11 of the last 15 matchups at Kauffman Stadium.

While the Seattle Mariners’ prized off-season acquisition is scheduled to make his season debut when the team returns home, they’d like to get a solid effort from Ryan Rowland-Smith to cap off their road trip.

Rowland-Smith takes the mound against the Kansas City Royals on Wednesday, when the Mariners try to win their first road series this season.

Acquired from Philadelphia in a three-team deal in the off-season, Cliff Lee was expected to immediately pair with right-hander Felix Hernandez as one of the majors’ most feared pitching combinations. Lee, though, has yet to make his Mariners debut after suffering a lower abdominal strain in spring training.

The left-hander threw a 50-pitch bullpen session Tuesday and is expected to start Friday against Texas.

But before the Mariners (10-11) open their nine-game homestand with the 2008 AL Cy Young Award winner of the mound, Rowland-Smith (0-1, 4.63 ERA) will try to help the team close out its six-game trip with its first series win on the road since Sept. 12-14.

Seattle snapped a four-game slide and a five-game skid on the road with Tuesday’s 3-2 victory. The Mariners’ three-run eighth, when they batted around, matched their run total from the past two games.

That kind of run support could benefit Rowland-Smith, who allowed a season-high five runs and a career-high three homers in Friday’s 7-6 loss at the Chicago White Sox.

“I thought Rowland-Smith early, giving up the three runs in the first three innings, it was pitching with emotions,” manager Don Wakamatsu told the Mariners’ official website.

Rowland-Smith is 0-1 with a 4.00 ERA in three starts versus Kansas City. He’ll face a Royals team that went 1 for 14 with runners in scoring position Tuesday.

“Zack (Greinke) deserved much better,” said manager Trey Hillman of the reigning AL Cy Young Award winner. “He deserved better offensive support.”

Coming off another “embarrassing” outing, Gil Meche (0-2, 11.37) could use a better effort in the series finale.

The veteran right-hander, who went 55-44 with a 4.65 ERA for Seattle from 1999-2006, lasted just 3 1/3 innings in Friday’s 8-3 loss to Minnesota. Meche walked a season-high five and allowed four runs and four hits. It was the second time in three starts that he has not made it out of the fourth inning.

“It’s embarrassing to pitch that way when I know what I’m capable of,” said Meche, who is 2-2 with a 5.77 ERA in six starts versus Seattle. “I’m getting tired about talking about the same thing over and over. You’ve got to turn the page. You’ve got to figure it out and do your job. I’m not doing my job.”

Neither is the Royals’ bullpen, which gave up three more runs Tuesday and has an AL-worst 6.61 ERA.

Ichiro Suzuki, who is 9 for 14 with a homer lifetime against Meche, goes for his eighth consecutive multihit game at Kauffman Stadium, which would set a record for an opposing player.

David DeJesus went 2 for 5 on Tuesday and is batting .409 during the Royals’ homestand that ends Wednesday.

Kansas City has won 12 of 17 at home versus Seattle.

Baseball Lines- Dodgers’ Ace To Miss Next Start-Baseball Betting

Billingsley left his last start against Atlanta on Friday after straining his hamstring on a single. He threw on the side before Monday's series opener against the Giants and still felt the tightness so the Dodgers decided to skip his next start baseball betting game.

All-Star pitcher Chad Billingsley will miss his scheduled start against the San Francisco Giants on Wednesday with a strained left hamstring.

Billingsley was originally scheduled to pitch tonight against the San Francisco Giants and Dodgers skip Joe Torre says that Jeff Weaver will be his replacement.

"The last few pitches I tried to go game-speed and had to shut 'er down," Billingsley said, adding that it felt like a grabbing pain.

Sportsbook SPORTSBETTING.com currently has the betting odds For showing the Dodgers baseball lines .

The Dodgers have not decided who will start in Billingsley's place, but the first option is to have Jeff Weaver start and a cast of relievers back him up, since the Dodgers have an off day on Thursday. Billingsley's next turn would be on Monday, and that start remains a possibility. Billingsley said he doesn't feel he needs to go on the disabled list.

"I don't view it as a setback," Billingsley said. "Being only two days and being able to throw almost 100 percent, I'm happy with that."

"Stan feels that he has made significant progress but not far enough along to pitch him on Wednesday," Torre said.

The Dodgers haven't decided on a starter for Wednesday's baseball lines game against Tim Lincecum. Jeff Weaver, who threw three perfect innings of relief on Sunday, and James McDonald are options to come out of the bullpen and start in Billingsley's place. With a day off Thursday and 13 pitchers on the roster, Torre said the team might not need to add another pitcher.

"We don't have a plan yet," Torre said. "Obviously we are going to need one. We don't have one, but we know we have sort of a safety plan knowing we could get it done with the pitchers that we have here."

Billingsley is the Dodgers top pitcher, with an 11-6 record and 3.73 ERA. He has 143 strikeouts in 149 2/3 innings. The Dodgers can ill afford to lose Billingsley for any length of time because of the way they have struggled of late.
Los Angeles entered this crucial series against the second-place Giants having lost 11 of 17 games. The Dodgers still led San Francisco and Colorado by 5½ games in the NL West.

Manager Joe Torre says he hopes Billingsley can return to the mound next Monday and does not need to go on the disabled list. The Dodgers haven't decided on a starter for Wednesday's game against Tim Lincecum. Jeff Weaver is an option after throwing three perfect innings of relief on Sunday.

Weaver is 4-3 SU in his last seven road baseball betting games against the Giants.

Baseball Betting-Philly Acquires 2008 Cy Young Winner

The Philadelphia Phillies couldn’t agree to a deal with the Toronto Blue Jays for Roy Halladay so they moved on.

Philly acquired Cliff Lee–last year’s Cy Young winner–and OF Ben Francisco from the Cleveland Indians in exchange for some minor leaguers.

The Phillies got their Cy Young winner in Baseball Betting.

After making a run at landing Blue Jays ace Roy Halladay before Friday's Trade Deadline, the Phillies instead acquired Indians ace Cliff Lee. The Phillies and Indians announced Wednesday evening that Lee and outfielder Ben Francisco have been traded to the Phillies for prospects Jason Knapp, Carlos Carrasco, Jason Donald and Lou Marson.

The Phillies improved their rotation and added a much-needed right-handed bat for their bench. The Indians get four of the top 10 prospects in Philadelphia's system, according to Baseball Betting America. The Blue Jays? Well, they might have overplayed their hand with less than 48 hours to go before the Deadline.

Lee isn’t exactly a winning pitcher this year however.

In his last 20 Baseball Betting games, Cleveland was only 8-12 SU.
