World Number Nine rank player Fernando, seeded number two in the ATP Nice Open tournament, won the match against Florent Serra in the second round straight sets 6-2, 6-2. He is now the highest seeded player left in the Open de Nice Cote d’Azur, and is the favourite to win the title after early exit of Robin Soderling. In this year Open Sabadell Atlantico Final Fernando played against Robin Soderling and won the championship.
Sergiy Stakhovsky, currently is at sixty sixth rank in the world rankings won the first round against Jarkko Nieminen in three sets 2-6, 6-3, 6-4 and second round against Andreas Seppi in straight sets 7-5, 6-3.
