NFL Week 2 Picks: Sunday Morning Snap Judgements

football betting
A lot of NFL betting fans are just waking up right now, thinking about which games to play and where to get their action in. Here’s a brief run down with some football betting picks:

Baltimore Ravens @ Cincinnati Bengals

Common sense says take the Ravens, but at a closer look this Bengals team has the Ravens number (2-0 against them last year), the Ravens are on a short week, back-to-back road games and the Bengals needs this one.

Pick: Bengals +3

Tampa Bay Buccaneers @ Carolina Panthers

The Carolina Panthers are only successful when they can run the ball. This week, they will run the ball and do it well against the feeble Bucs.

Pick: Carolina -3.5

Buffalo Bills @ Green Bay Packers

This looks to be the blowout of the week. The Bills will be in it for about a quarter or so but this is too tall an order for them to step into Lambeau and get the win.

Pick: Packers -13

Miami Dolphins @ Minnesota Vikings

The Miami Dolphins struggled on the road in Buffalo last week. Now they have to head out back on the road to the Metrodome to face a team that has extra time to prepare. Good luck.

Pick: Vikings -5.5

Chicago Bears @ Dallas Cowboys

The Chicago Bears barely beat the Detroit Lions at home last week – and that was after they knocked out quarterback Matt Stafford. The Cowboys are a far superior opponent.

Pick: Cowboys -7

Philadelphia Eagles @ Detroit Lions

The assumption here is that new starting quarterback, Michael Vick, runs wild in this game but Jim Schwartz is a good coach. The Lions hang around in this one and cover.

Pick: Lions +6.5

Arizona Cardinals @ Atlanta Falcons

The Arizona Cardinals hung on to beat the St. Louis Rams last week but the Atlanta Falcons are a far better team. Matt “Ice” Ryan is 13-1 in his career at home and the Falcons will get the job done here in impressive fashion.

Pick: Falcons -6.5

Kansas City Chiefs @ Cleveland Browns

How can anyone bet the Browns right now? The quarterback position is still crippling the team and they’ll another one on the chin for it. Hey Eric Mangini, how’s that hot seat feeling?

Pick: Chiefs +3

Pittsburgh Steelers @ Tennessee Titans

Do you smell that? That’s the scent of an upset brewing. The Pittsburgh Steelers have the better defense in this one and they’ll corral Chris Johnson, forcing the Titans to be one-dimensional.

Pick: Steelers +5.5

Seattle Seahawks @ Denver Broncos

The Seattle Seahawks had a good start last week and now they face a former AFC West rival. The Broncos will squeak this one out in their home opener but the Seahawks cover.

Pick: Seahawks +3.5

St. Louis Rams @ Oakland Raiders

It’s time for Raider Nation to step up! They get a rookie quarterback making his first road start this week; their physical defense is going to show up. Beyond that, Jason Campbell has a much better game and the Raiders win going away.

Pick: Raiders -3.5

New England Patriot @ New York Jets

The game of the week will not turn out to be; the Jets are banged up, missing their best defensive lineman (Kris Jenkins) and their best linebacker and pass rusher (Calvin Pace). The Patriots are humming and will roll them up in a statement game.

Pick: Patriots -3

Houston Texans @ Washington Redskins

The Houston Texans will be in for a dog fight in this one. It’s the teacher meets the mentor as Redskins head coach Mike Shanahan meets his former offensive coordinator, Gary Kubiak, who now coaches the Houston Texans. The Texans of old would lose this one but the new Texans will barely pull this one out.

Pick: Texans +2.5

Jacksonville Jaguars @ San Diego Chargers

Must-win doesn’t mean will win; the Chargers are desperate to avoid the 0-2 hole and Philip Rivers will keep them out of it, but the Jaguars show up in this one for a cover.

Betting Pick: Jaguars -7

New York Giants @ Indianapolis Colts

The formula is simple for the New York Giants (thanks to the Houston Texans): run the ball and you can earn a win. They’ll follow that simple game plan and stun the Colts in the Manning Bowl II.

Pick: Giants +5.5
