MLB World Series Betting

We’re over a month-and-a-half in to the MLB betting season and Sports Betting thought it would be fun to check in on the latest World Series odds. The defending champion New York Yankees are off to a good start and their odds reflect it, while the defending NL champs the Philadelphia Phillies are also well positioned for another run at the baseball betting title.

When spring training began, MLB betting experts targeted the Yankees and Phillies as favorites to get back to the World Series and play once more for baseball supremacy. While other contenders have emerged to wager on, the Phils and Yanks are there as well, according to the odds.

The Yankees World Series odds are 5/2 to win it all, while the Phillies World Series odds are 15/4. Both teams are relatively healthy and that’s keeping them as favorites.

But there are other baseball betting options to win the MLB title in 2010. The Tampa Bay Rays have been leading the Yankees for the most of the 2010 baseball betting season and should not be taken lightly. They were in the 2008 World Series and did finish over .500 in 2009. This season, they appear to be healthier and much deeper at the pitching position. Sports Betting has the Rays as a 5/1 shot to win it all.

Meanwhile, the perennial playoff team the St. Louis Cardinals are also being weighted as a contender. They are listed as 7/1 shots at the moment. If their offense gets hot, the Cards could go a long way, making their 7/1 status as a steal for MLB betting aficionados.

Having fallen off in terms of quality pitching starts and offensive power, the Boston Red Sox have been reduced to a .500 team so far on the 2010 baseball betting season. As a result, their odds currently sit at 14/1 to win it all. Taking into account the fact that both the Rays and the Yankees are in their division, Boston is probably not worth a bet at the moment.

Finally, do you want some real MLB wagering value? How about the Minnesota Twins? They are leading their division and boast a much deeper roster in 2010. This scrappy team is playing like a contender right from the start, a stark contrast to their come-from-behind mentality that propelled them into the postseason last year. Sports Betting lists the Twins as 16/1 to win the World Series, great baseball betting value if you can get it.
