In the Quarter finals match Jie Zheng played against number one seed in the tournament Carolin. Zheng Jie won the first set 6-3 after that Carolin retired due to a right ankle injury. After the match Zheng said, "I feel lucky to make the semifinals here, but I wish we could have finished our match today."
Another sensation in the Warsaw Open unseeded player Greta Arn won the Quarter finals match against Sixth seed player Alona Bondarenko, who was a last runner-up in three sets 5-7, 6-4, 6-4.
Odds are a bit much on the Jie Zheng as favorite in this match.
